I thought the Terri Schiavo case was just as special as any other case. I didn’t think there was nothing to dramatic; except when President Bush got involved. Its a shame that she had to die under her husband’s will instead of her parents. You would think that if they loved her;both partys would want her to stay alive.
I think the Terri Schiavo case was about life or love. It was a truly good case and a difficult one. Terri Schiavo was in her late 20’s and collapsed at her St. Petersburg apartment. She went into a vegetative state for fifteen years with other people tending to her as well as her husband. Her husband, Michael Schiavo was very supportive and didn’t give up on his wife. He took her to public places and parks hoping for a miracle recovery. Terri Schiavo parents thought differently and thought she should be kept alive on life support hoping for her recovery. Michael Schiavo and Terri Schavio’s parents went to court many of times fighting for Terri Schiavo’s life. Michael thought she should be taken off life support because for fifteen years she hasn’t made any improvements or sign of recovery. Terri Schiavo’s parents wanted to keep her on life support because they didn’t want her daughter to die. After this being fought several of times Michael Schiavo finally won the court case and they took her off of life supprt. Afterall, when you do get married the two loved ones become each others caretaker not the parents. Terri Schiavo passed away at 41 to peacefully move on with the Lord.
I learned that in a difficult situation as this one was you have to think about the other individual in the situation. She made no improvements and and was lying their helpessly. No matter how much it may hurt or watching your daughter or loved one lay there with no sign of recovery, you have to do what is best. Terri Schiavo couldn’t do anything for herself as in eat, brush her hair, or do for herself. It isn’t right to keep her on life support that long and she still showed no improvements. Michael Schiavo, her husband, was right for letting his wife peacefully move on and stop making it harder for them seeing her laying there with no sign of hope. This decision was made out of unconditional love and I support his decision.
What I think about this case is that it was a waste of time. It was a waste of time because I believe that Terri’s husband should be able to take her of life support when there is no way she can return from her state. I learned that some people never ever give up on something and that determination will get you far.
i liked and learned alot about the Terri Schiavo case. Before i started reading i was like who is Terri Schiavo. So i learned who she was and how her husband Micheal was against her family (mom, dad, and sister) because he wanted her feeding tube out and they wanted it to stay in. i learned about the diease she had persistent vegetative state (PSV). All together it was a long journeyyy for her and her whole family going back and forth to the hospital and court and her suffering and not being able to do the things she was able to do back before everything went down. But i mean i get where her husband was coming from her dont wanna see her suffering and the doctor said she wasnt gonna get any better and if he was telling the truth about her wanting to be at peace then they should’ve took the feeding tube out since it was her wishes that wasnt on paper it was some he said she said stuff. i also get where her family was coming from nobody wanna see a love one go especially your own child or somebody you was close to, and i guess they still had hope she would recover so they wanted her to stay on the feeding tube until that time or whenever she actually died. So i get where everyone was coming from. It was a very sad case but still good and intersting all at the same time……
My thought on the case, was that her parents were crazy to want to keep her alive when she wouldn’t really be living. She’ll never walk, talk, she can do anything by herself. So what is the point of keeping her alive. So they would feel better. Me i don’t think I could keep visting somebody that well never be able to talk to. To just be there but not there I think the husband did the right thing. Even though he had another child by another girl.
I love the Terri schaivo case because of the things i learned. I learned fighting for the life of a love is hard and can make family turn against each other. It thought me about how much power the government over disputes. There are two things i dislike about this case. one is the fact that the family was being very selfish. They claimed they love their child at the sme time they are fighting for their daughter to stay on the feeding tube. I don’t like the fact that the husband was too busy fighting his wife’s parent insted of fighting for his wife’s life. At the end of the day, i think they should have the left the decision to the doctors.
These are my overall thoughts of the case I think Michael making the choices he made were very smart. Michael deciding that her not being on life-support with no hope I’m sure was hard for him. The family went through many trials and appeals throughout the course of the situation. In Terri’s condition there was no hope for recovery, so she should be put to rest peacefully.
I think that the parents going against Michael was understandable because they don’t want their daughter dying by dehydrating herself. I learned that many laws have aroused from this case. The fact that there was no living will really held up the whole situtation and the family’s decisions. This shows that a living will is important in any case and everyone should have one written up. I’m happy that by the end of the trials Michael’s decision came out on top and she was peacefully able to die.
In the Terri Schiavo case Michael wanted to let his wife Terri Schiavo die in peace instead of lay in a bed and die helpless. Her parents thought that taking her off the feeding machine would be harsh because she would die of starvation. Before she died former president George W. Bush signed a bill to keep Terri Shiavo on the feeding tube but she died a few days later. I didnt really learn to much about this case but i thought it was interesting because her husband got to decide what he wanted to do instead of her parents because they were married.
I think that Mr.Schiavo loved his wife very much but could just not see her on life support(PVG). Although her parents wanted her to live it just makes no sense why she would want to see thier daughter like that. The doctors even said that there was no hope for her being able to live like a normal person. The good thing about this case is that it has opened up the eyes of the American people to similiar cases and hopefully people will choose the right decision to do in this case from now on.
Ms. Clark, I really liked this case and I thought it was very interesting. I learned that in some states(Florida) your spouse becomes your legal guardian when you become ill/incapitated, which is not good, I think your parents should be your legal guardian in times like that. I didn’t like the fact that Michael Schiavo wanted to go through so much to kill his wife, and I don’t believe the statement that he told the news when he said “Terri wouldn’t have wanted to live like this, and that’s what she told me”. I don’t believe that that statement is entirely true. Terri had a chance to live and many doctors were willing to help her, but her husband refused any and everybodies help. To me that was pretty selfish and cold hearted, if I knew that all of that was going on in those years, I would have tried to do something to keep Terri alive, and she would be still on Earth today, living her life the way she wanted, happy & healthy. I think all of those judges and any other officials that were on Michael’s side should have been put in jail because of what they did. I think he paid most of those doctors and judges to be on his side, but that’s just my opinion becuase I don’t have any proof of that only God knows what really was going on during that time. ~MarQuis T.~ (pd.2)
I really enjoyed reading and learning about this case. I thought that Terri was an extremely nice and hard working woman who did not deserve what happened to her. It was an extremley unfortunate event, but her husband was by her side the entire time, and I think that he was very supportive and caring through the entire case.
The Terri Schaivo Case was about Terri Schaivo who was told as begin PVS. I think that her husbands decision was a good one. That he gave her the wishes to not live on life support. He tried many differnt acts to try and save her and keep her alive with him. I enjoyed reading this case. I believe she was a wonderful person who did not deserve to die the way that she did. He was very supporting and caring through the whole case.
Terri Schiavo case was very long and interesting.the Terri Schiavo case was sad because I can only image the why her and her family was feeling. I think Michael Schiavo was a loving husband and he only wanted the best for his wife. Terri Schiavo was brain died and he just wanted her to be peaceful. That is why I believe this was a case of life and death and love and passion…
Well, personally I loved the case; it was quite lengthy but it helped me learn a lot about family and health issues. It was sad that while the family was fighting, Terri had to endure so much; with physicians having to keep reinserting her feeding tube. I don’t think it was fair to her in any kind of way, everyone was so caught up in the family fighting affair, no one really took the time t compromise and come to a reasonable solution in over-seeing her well being which ended in tragedy as a broken family and losing a loved one. I’ve learned that my favorite drink sweet tea, which I drink every day, all day is actually not good for me. It could cause me to become severely dehydrated and that could affect my health in the most horrible way. I feel as though in the mist of it all, God was watching over Terri and his plan played out exactly the way it was suppose to. Everything that happened happened for a specific and special reason.
I thought this case was really good. The only bad thing about it was that it was really long. I think that she should have been taken off the feeding tube.
Honestly, this trial was half boring and half interesting. The only interesting part and mostly the thing that kept me going was to actually see what happened to her and if Michael had harm her to the point that she had a cardiac arrest. It was quite boring from there on because I had already expected Michael to win the whole case. From the start it was always leaning towards Michael. In my opinion it was useless and unthoughtful for the Schindlers to try to leave the feeding tube in. Someone who is in a persistent vegetable state who can’t even say a word is something that’s so difficult to live with. Always in constant pain, mental and physical, is hard and harder when you can’t talk about it or express yourself.
The Terri Schiavo case is a very interesting story. I could never imagine being in her husband nor her parents place. Having to make the decision; even thinking about it is hard. I’m supporting Micheal Schiavo, her husband, because who would want to watch a loved one suffer in fornt of their own eyes? It was a hard decision for him as well as it was for her parents but I think he was being a caring person by wanting to take her off life support.
Personally I believe that this case is a great case. It brought light to me about how you think a decision like this would be with no question given to the parents, however it is not. When reading this great but lengthy case I can see where both parties are coming form however I decided to side with the parents only because as I stated above this kind of life or death situation should be given to the parents not to a man that is having an intimate relationship with another woman while still being married to Terri, I don’t care how much he says he still has her best intrest at heart. Over all i’m glad this case has come to the light of the public.
The Terri Schiavo case is a very complicated case. This case was centered around the topic of who has the right to decide if someone should live or die. The decision in the case came down, to some extent, to who knew Terri Schiavo’s wishes the best, her parents or Micheal Schiavo, her husband. However, I feel that whatever the outcome of this case was there would be someone upset. The court in this case had a very difficult task of deciding wether or not Mrs. Shavio should be taken off life support. Overall, the decision in this case will serve as a guidline for future cases to come.
I agree with Caitlyn C’s blog about the Terri Schiavo case. She explained the overall situation clearly and briefly. Everything she stated is the truth and couldn’t be put any simplier. Who ever the court sided with someone would be upset and hurt. In this case, I side with Michael Schiavo as many others do too.
Reply to Jaleisa Cox: i agree with what you are saying. That do they really want to see her suffering in front of them. She needed to be taken off of the life support. I believe that Michael did the right thing by doing that and granting her the wishes that she wanted. It was a very hard decision for him to make so i agree with Jaleisa.

I agree with everything you said. Regardless of the outcome someone is upset. No on wants to see this woman suffer more than she already has. But as you said this case has lead to many laws that can be used in future cases similar to this one.

I don’t think that the parents should have the right at this point she was living with Michael and who are they to say that Michael and herself never had the conversation about it! I think that he did anything and everything in his power to keep her alive, he just didn’t want to see her suffering anymore. Most of the doctors seen throughout the course of this situation said that there was no hope in a big improvement. So with that being said why wouldn’t everyone just want her to rest in peace and stop being put through the pain.
In this case, I agree with what Devaughn said also. He is right about the fact she will never be able to talk, move around, or do anything by herself. He stated good points and what he wrote was something that was sufficent. It is a good question to ask, who would want to continue to visit someone who can’t respond? It is a heart breaking thing to watch and something that could devestate someone else’s life. Everything he said, I agree with and support. I take Michael Schiavo, Terri Schiavo’s husband side too.
Reply to Dupree Bostic: I agree with what Dupree said. Yes the parents wanted to see her live on it but if you really think about it what Michael did was the best thing. Her parents were just going to let her suffer. Even when the doctors tell them the best thing to do is take her off and remove the feeding tube. I also believe that yes this was a eye opener to many people.
reply to Derek Thomas: Yeah I agree that it was a really long case. I think a lot of it could have been left out. It seemed like the case was missing the real point of the story. The case was also dragged out to the point where you didnt really have to think about what the decision should be.
reply to Sierra Walsh: I fully agree with Sierra on her thoughts on this case. Terry was on life support for fifteen years with no signs of improvement. To think that her parents wanted her to stay like that for the rest of her life is hard to believe. Her husband spent the remaining days with his wife before she was on life support so he would know what was best for her.
reply to Jaleisa Cox: I agree with you because i feel the same way. I feel like if i was in Michael shoes i don’t know what i would done especially if it has to deal with your love one. I also feel like he should be the one to make the decision.
reply to MarQuis T. I also agree with you because that how i will feel if it someone i love. I feel like he realy loved and he did not to see her suffer. I also think the parents love and they just wanted the best for her.
Reply to Rachael Kelley: I think Rachael brought up some good points in her blog. I agree with Rachael when she said, “I think that the parents going against Michael was understandable because they don’t want their daughter dying by dehydrating herself.” I also think she brought up a good point when she said, “The fact that there was no living will really held up the whole situation and the family’s decisions. This shows that a living will is important in any case and everyone should have one written up.” If there was a living will in this situation then the trial may have been short, or there may not have even been a trail. I think Rachael had a good blog.
Reply to Valerie Trivette: I agree with Valerie’s blog. I also agreed with her when she said, “He tried many different acts to try and save her and keep her alive with him.” After realizing that Terri Schiavo had little chance of recovery Michael Schiavo decided it would be better to let Mrs. Schiavo die peacefully. I also agreed with Valerie when she said that Michael was “very supporting and caring through the whole case.” Throughout the years Michael preformed various tasks tring to improve Terri Schiavo’s medical condition.
